NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION!
Ethanol, also called alcohol, ethyl alcohol and grain alcohol, is a clear, colorless liquid and the principle ingredient in alcoholic beverages like beer, wine or brandy. Because it can readily dissolve in water and other organic compounds, ethanol also is an ingredient in a range of products, from personal care and beauty products.
Ethanol is a natural byproduct of plant fermentation.
Because ethanol is effective in killing microorganisms like bacteria, fungi and viruses, it is a common ingredient in many hand sanitisers and is an effective additive to cleaning products. In fact, it is a major ingredient in the World Health Organisation's Hand Sanitiser recipe.
This is an effective ingredient in spray disinfectants.
To discourage the drinking of pure ethanol from personal care or cleaning products, a “denaturant,” such as a bitter flavoring, is usually added. Denaturants make alcohol unsuitable for human consumption, but does not change the other properties of the substance.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Many denatured Alcohol/Ethanols on the market (especially in 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic when then have been worldwide shortages) are in fact Methanol which is Ethanol denatured with the very toxic substance Methane. This should never be used on skin. It is because of this confusion that unfortunately it has a bad rap and many people won't touch it! However, correctly used, it is more effective than vinegar.
Unfortunately this is the one product we have to relent on and package in plastic bottles for courier safety and in order to comply with the Dangerous Goods Act.
This product also attracts a one off additional charge of $10 (charged automatically at checkout) as there is a surcharge for carriage of Dangerous Goods.
